I am trying to create a cd image file from my vcd. I wanted to have a .iso file out of it. these are the things I have tried without success.

k3b:
in the cd copy dialogue i checked the option that says create image only. It created .img file and a .img.toc file .. no .iso

mkisofs:

mkisofs -o cd.iso cd_dir

starts creating an iso image .. but tells me that it'll be ready after 7 hours

dd:

gentoo isos # dd if=/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 of=cd1.iso
dd: reading `/dev/cdroms/cdrom0': Input/output error
2944+0 records in
2944+0 records out

creates only 1.5M file

any help ?

the .img file may just be another name for an iso, try mounting it to see
