First, X works with no issues/errors. I know I've got a solid xorg.conf file, but I can still post one if you'd like. I'm using a Dell Laptop with nvidia, and there's no extra devices used, just my laptop keyboard and my synaptics mouse.
My issue: If I start hal on boot then run X, every keystroke outputs 3 strokes. (If I type "a" I'll see "aaa"). If I stop hald and restart x then I don't have any problems. Everything works like it should. I know there's something to add/change so that X uses the right driver (hal, evdev, etc) but I can't find any info. I did find a link somewhere about an issue like this a while ago, but I can't find the thread. I would like hal and dbus running with my X soon! _________________ Typically I'd do all the work, but for now I'll let you do it. |

wonderfully unhelpful, thank you. I'm having the same problem and have read the sticky's. Lots of information but nothing on this specific problem that i could see.
as a drastic measure I completely removed xorg.conf ( actually renamed it. ) and the keyboard started to work _________________ Linux User 268664

It was as helpful as it needed to be.
If you have input sections in your xorg.conf, but for whatever
(probably silly) reason put 'EnableEmptyInput "false"' there,
if hal is running, your keyboard is seen as multiple multiple device
entries, each one send the same event, so multiple keypresses
are registered. |
