Getting Kubuntu 9.04 up in KVM more feisty than jaunty

Was playing with the new Kubuntu release tonight and have troubles trying to get its Xorg up in a KVM guest. I knew I was in trouble when the default installer corrupted the sdl display and didn't want to do a desktop with either the vesa std or vmware displays. I just now decided to throw up my hands and fall back to the brain dead cirrus display which seems to actually work ;-)

Host is a kvm_amd (kvm 0.84) and an nvidia driver (will someone please convince whomever to get rid of the paravirt checks in the ebuilds? It really does work!)

Just out of curiosity, what VM are you using?

FWIW this is really a question better asked of the Ubuntu/Kubuntu forums, or the forums of the VM being used.

kvm 0.84. Not sure if the display drivers are owned by them or qemu tho.
