I've stumbled on some posts saying people have gotten the Hauppauge hvr-1800 tuner to work in linux, however, it's not always clear as to whether they got the analog or the digital tuner to work. All signs point to an unsupported analog tuner, due to the NXP/Philips TDA8295 (analog IF demodulator) I believe it was. (video but no audio) Has anyone gotten the analog tuner to work? Anyone know for sure that it doesn't work? Is development still progressing?
I am able to watch semi-live tv using this command (/dev/video1 is hardware mpeg2 encoder) and then use ivtv-tune to change the channel
Code: | mplayer /dev/video1 -vo gl2 -vc ffmpeg12 -cache 16384 -cache-seek-min 50 |
I have the digital tuner working but only pick up around 8 channels and they are ones I rarely watch. I have tried the mercurial package (v4l-dvb-hg) but nothing changed.
The linuxtv.org wiki is also unclear as to which tuners are supported. So I'm having a difficult time finding what I want. The hvr-950q would be nice but a little searching shows people having trouble with the analog on that as well.
Please Help! Any input on fully working analog (ntsc) AND digital (QAM over cable) tv tuner appreciated.
Will post system info if needed |
