I just installed KDE4 (emerge kde-meta:4.2)

I have 3 things not working there :

- hal daemon is running, but i have no notification when I plug an usb key (though 'dmesg' reports the /dev/sdxx is created)

- In the settings, there is no 'super user' mode, so I cannot modify some settings accesible only to 'root' (I have to run from console 'kdesu systemsettings' ...)

- there is no 'printing' utility in the hardware settings ...

Any clues ?

Working for me. Do you have the "Device Notifier" widget in your panel or on your destop, that's where I see the notification.

Looks like it is a "feature" not included in 4.2. Here is a KDE bug link . There is a patch to fix. Haven't tried it, if someone has would be interesting to see if it fixes it.
My work around for this is:
Code:

kdesu -i preferences-system-login -c "/usr/bin/kcmshell4 kdm"

Missing here as well. Another missing feature I guess - saw that kdeprint as not yet been ported to kde4.
