It's just compiz-fusion in the almighty Gentoo Linux, but I think it's cool!

Well, I'm not interested at all in this 3D-stuff, but really, 7 minutes? You could have shown that in 2 minutes or even less. Althoug I din't like the video, I'd be interested in your dome-picture(or what it's called), that flashy purple g on the grey background, thx.

When will someone make a video of useful apps like mc, rtorrent, irssi, openbox, etc. and not these boring/lame/"unuseful" crap such as compuz (and variants?). It's like comparing silicon-induced wh*res with real women...

P.S I don't want to make useful videos, I want to make fun ones!

Pretty good video. On my other box I had compiz with the 3dcube and cylinder deformations working. It is pretty neat but mainly eye candy. I ended up turning it off because it slowed thngs down too much for me (The laptop has a really crappy ATI xpress 200M video adapter). It was fast enough to be useful still, yet the slow down was just unacceptable.

You would have thought there's enough Compiz videos out there. I guess it's a phase for most people. I was for me for about a day.

for the same reason women get breast implants - nobody gives a shit if they don't actually *do* much, they're nice to look at. "Well honey, your tits look amazing, but they wouldn't work terribly well for opening aluminum soup cans" - nobody cares, they are tits.

It is a video. The main purpose is...*gasp*...looking at it! So people want to see things that are pretty, well-animated, etc.

Would you go to a movie theater and complain because they put on an actual movie rather than scanning in a book and slowly scrolling the words of the book across the screen? Sure, the book might be a better story, but you don't go to a movie theater to read a book; you go to a movie theater to see a movie.

Would you like me to make a video of me SSH'd into my server doing maintenance work? I'm sure this could be arranged. It may be a crappy webcam version, but hey, it'll be me doing something useful!

Well I know your feeling about compiz..! I was also very excited when first time got it working and learned how to make most out of it. ( i should definately take some day and test all the features it has to offer.. That means drinking lot of coffee and smoking bunch of cigarettes :) )

And it's not all about eye-candy!It's very handy indeed. When you get used to it, It feels like going back to ancient history when dealing with distro/windows without that functionality.

Compiz rocks! Also there is never enough compiz videos on tube.. Just to piss off windows users :D
