I'm having a really tough time getting my Belkin F8T001 USB adapter to work in linux.
I compiled all the bluetooth modules, and did not inclue the USB->bluetooth support like everyone says... The happens when I try to load the firmware using bluefw. Here's what I tried:
Code: |
$ modprobe bluez
$ modprobe hci_usb
$ lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 04a9:2202 Canon, Inc. CanoScan FB620U
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 046d:c504 Logitech, Inc. Cordless Mouse+Keyboard Receiver
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 0a5c:2033 Broadcom Corp. BCM2033 Bluetooth
$ bluefw usb 001/008
bluefw[13706]: Loading firmware to usb device 0a5c:2033
bluefw[13706]: Intr read #1 failed. Connection timed out (110)
|
and here's some kernel output:
Code: |
Aug 15 13:25:31 monkeybox kernel: BlueZ Core ver 2.2 Copyright (C) 2000,2001 Qualcomm Inc
Aug 15 13:25:31 monkeybox kernel: Written 2000,2001 by Maxim Krasnyansky <maxk@qualcomm.com>
Aug 15 13:25:36 monkeybox kernel: BlueZ HCI USB driver ver 2.4 Copyright (C) 2000,2001 Qualcomm Inc
Aug 15 13:25:36 monkeybox kernel: Written 2000,2001 by Maxim Krasnyansky <maxk@qualcomm.com>
|
...and this is what I see when I plug in the bluetooth device:
Code: |
Aug 15 13:25:36 monkeybox kernel: usb.c: registered new driver hci_usb
Aug 15 17:34:57 monkeybox kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:09.0-2, assigned address 4
Aug 15 17:34:57 monkeybox kernel: usb.c: USB device 4 (vend/prod 0xa5c/0x2033) is not claimed by any
active driver.

ok I got it to work to the point of hci config, I think I missed loading a couple of other modules..
My main question is, How the heck can I set up my linux box as a NAP (network access point) so that I can browse the net on my ipaq?? I've gone through many of the howtos out there and the are WAY, WAY too complex. I'd like to be able to have it all happen automatically w/ DHCP or whatever. I would like for my ipaq to just connect to the physical LAN and get its IP address from the DHCP server...
Do any gentoo users out there have ANY experience w/ bluetooth??? |

I've got my Opie familiar iPaq connected via bluetooth to my Gentoo box. It wasn't easy, but is well worth the time and effort. Keep reading those HOW-TOs and if you get stuck post here and I'll try and help you out.
I wouldn't recommend using DHCP though, I found it much easier to give my PC an IP of 10.0.0.1 and my iPaq an IP of 10.0.0.2. This is what most of the examples use and it makes them much easier to follow.
The two examples that helped me get it working were:
