Hi!

After upgrading to KDE 4.2.2 my KDE Menu went missing. I just see the buttons for locking the screen, logging out, changing the user and my favorites.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, teddy_doc

Your problem seems to be pretty similar to the one posted here :https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-753227-postdays-0-postorder-asc-start-25.html

Apparently, running:

kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental (logged as the user who runs kde)

worked for some people (not in my case), maybe worth a try.
It is strange you have this problem now, it was fixed about three days ago for me after running emerge sync and reemerging kdelibs and startkde.

Didn't work for me, either. But since recompiling kdelibs and startkde worked for you, I'll try this now.

Ok, reemerging kdelibs and startkde fixed the problem.

It turned out, that startkde was still in version 4.2.0-r1, while kdelibs (and probably the rest of KDE) was already at 4.2.2.

I'm quite sure I did an
Code:
emerge world -avuDN

before, so I wonder why startkde wasn't already at 4.2.2, but maybe I missed something.

Anyways, it's working now. Thanks!
