After a recent rebuild, "ibm" variables don't work any more in my conky.
"emerge -pv conky" shows:
Code:

[ebuild   R   ] app-admin/conky-1.7.0_rc1  USE="X mpd truetype vim-syntax wifi -audacious (-bmpx) -debug -hddtemp (-ibm) -ipv6 -moc -nano-syntax -nvidia -rss" 0 kB

So "ibm" flag is not enabled here.
However, add it to package.use or set USE="ibm" in enviroment doesn't work. It seems this use flag is masked. What does the bracketes here mean? Forgive me, but I couldn't find answer from man or google.

from man emerge, description of option --verbose (-v):
Code:
Symbol   Location    Meaning
--------------------------------------------------------------

-        prefix      not enabled (either disabled or removed)
*        suffix      transition to or from the enabled state
%        suffix      newly added or removed
()       circumfix   forced, masked, or removed

which arch and profile do you have? please post the output of emerge --info.
/usr/portage/profiles/arch/powerpc/ppc64/64ul/use.mask contains -ibm.

i think you are experiencing the masking because of /usr/portage/profiles/base/use.mask
Code:
# ppc64 arch specific USE flags
ibm

i think this is wrong, because the flag "ibm" of conky refers to ibm/x86 related hardware.

No worries, I am anxiously awaiting a fix to this as well.

My conky looks terrible right now ;)
