|
|
Hi
i have recently noticed with top command line that my swap size is around 500 Mb But in reality with cfdisk i have allocated 1Gb.
Its very strange because previously i have to create a addon swap to increment this 500mb up to 1,5 Gb.
can someone explain me this problem ?
For me top must show me 1Gb ....
thanks a lot

Please post the output of these commands: Code: | /sbin/swapon -s
dmesg | grep swap
cat /proc/partitions |

If you get an error detailing insufficient swap, allocate more ... However, the
biggest amount of swap I've ever used is around 500mb. .... We carried it over
to Unix and never had any weird problems that we might otherwise have suspected
memory on ... The swap size can be different for every user _________________ Gay Dating boutique erotique |

solved :
in my /etc/fstab i had
/dev/sda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
instead of
/dev/sda5 swap swap sw 0 0
now everything is fine (after a swapoff, mkswap and swapon) _________________ [LAPTOP]

now everything is fine (after a swapoff, mkswap and swapon) | Just so you know, mkswap fixed your problem, not the change to /etc/fstab. Only the noauto mount option has an effect for swap partitions. Other options are ignored. (Also, per man fstab, the second field (fstype) should be none.)
Did you recently rearrange your partitions and/or resize your swap partition? I notice your signature reads: Quote: | 120 GB HDD
1 Gb DDR2
SWAP : 500Mb
Chipset Intel 945PM Express | ...which suggests you originally had a 500MB swap partition and forgot to re-run mkswap when you enlarged it. _________________ Plants are pithy, brooks tend to babble--I'm content to lie between them.
