I have option DPMS in X config, and I recently switched from root user to regular user, however, I discovered that X server no longer blanks the screen after 5 mins and shutdown screen after 10 mins like i told it to... any ideas? |

Do you have apm console blanking enabled in kernel? What wm do u use? In kde you can change the power properties by setting the setuid bit on the applet and then modify the settings.
Hope that helps. _________________ I would like to change the world,

Hmm, that's odd ... X should run with the right eleveated permissions (via "Xwrapper") to allow regular users to blank the console via DPMS.
I'm on a laptop, and I have to use a special tool with root permissions to turn off the backlight (radeontool), if that helps. _________________ Personal overlay | Simple backup scheme |

I've got the same problem - only while I'm logged in as a root to X DMPS works. For normal user it doesn't :/
Any ideas? _________________ pozdrawiam, cyprian |

in gnome? I believe you can adjust the blanking settings somewhere in the menus... i'd guess the screensaver options, since i know gnome-settings-daemon starts xscreensaver. Fiddle around in there. _________________ Nitrogen - GtkMM based background setter/restorer, please test!
