|

Hi there,
My installation fails during step 11 (scripts/bootstrap.sh) of the installation process. It fails when compiling (make) ncurses, with a segmentation fault. Error message is 'Function src_compile, Line 39, Exit code 2. Make failed'. All previous packages were successfully compiled (gettext, sed, etc).
Does anyone know how to go through that, except by going straight to stage 2
Thanks in advance and cheers,
Xavier |

ncurses can be quite difficult to compile...
if you can save an error log, bug 26726 could use some precise reports. |

Thanks! In the meantime, I realized that segmentation faults are often due to hardware problems (i.e.: memory). I ran a memtest and indeed found a faulty module. I'm retrying it right now and see if it works before filling in a bug report. |

Gentoo is an excellent hardware tester
I just hope the rest of your machine works and you can reproduce the error so that the bug can finally be hunted down and eliminated |

Thanks! I just survived stage 1, 2 and 3 and succesfully logged in to my fresh Gentoo installation The problem was then indeed due to a bad memory module... |
