I have installed gentoo on 4 pc. on 2 of them run vista as second OS and on the 2 older PC XP. on the Vista PC i dont have a problem with dual booting, but on the XP PC.
When i choose boot XP in grub, the windows change and it show me:

makeactive
chainloader +1 |
and stop doning something. this is also the text i have in my grub.conf

the only different to my grub.conf on the vista pcs are the title....where i change XP to Vista....but that all. so what is wrong with it.
ah i also should say, that when i switch in BIOS to boot direkt from the Harddisk with XP on both pc XP start normal, so XP is not crashed.

I noticed that you have XP on a 2nd harddrive. It is necessary to map hd0 to hd1 and back again.

The other reason I pointed out this particular thread is because the typical map fix didn't work in this case, and they have another alternative solution further on. |
