|
|
Dear All
I have downloaded both discs for Gentoo Linux from a UK mirror. I do not have a reliable Internet connection so I decided to use a GRP installation from Stage 3. Everything went fine until I tried to load in the kernel using the command
Code: | # emerge -k sys-kernel/gentoo-sources |
The script tried to look for the kernel source over the net rather than on my hard drive and failed. I have followed the installation guide located
Code: | #links /mnt/cdrom/install.html |
Basically the installation intructions on the CD. The stage3 tarball was labelled
stage3-20030731.tar.bz2
Is there a problem with this version of stage 3. Am I missing something?
My system comprises of
Pentium 3 733MHz
384MB RAM
40GB Master Hard Drive
20GB Slave Hard Drive
52X Master CD Reader
12X Slave CD Read/Writer
NVIDIA TNT2 32MB Graphics Card
Can someone please help me. Thanks in advance _________________ ----

Try the same command with a big K . I believe this one pulled me through the same thing.
(but my memory does not go back that long so don;t shoot me) |
