I tried a few CLI burning applications and they only support the 8.3 format. I know of a few that support long name format but they are only GUI. Is there one that is CLI and supports long name? It does not have to be very long; just 16 to 18 characters is fine. |

winter08,
You will need Joliet and/or Rockridge extensions to iso9660 in your kernel to support long filenames.
Most of the Linux GUI cdburners use cdrecord to do the actual work.
Note. Its perfectly possible to see 8.3 filenames even if your burn long filenames if your kernel has iso9660 support without the extensions.
cdrecord only does the burn. You have to make your iso9660 filesystem before hand with mkisofs _________________ Regards,

Thanks. That makes more sense. I used mkisofs before the CLI burns. And drag-and-drop with the GUI. No wonder I was getting the 8.3s. I will look into mkisofs options. |
