|
|
I just recently upgraded my kernel from linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r8 to linux-2.6.28-gentoo-r5.
After rebooting my computer I noticed that the videodev module failed to load.
When I perform modprobe videodev, I receive the following message:
Code: |
FATAL: Error inserting videodev (/lib/modules/2.6.28-gentoo-r5/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.ko): Invalid module format
|
Also, when running module-rebuild rebuild I run into errors while re-emerging media-video/linux-uvc-0.1.0_pre250.
Code: |
make: *** [uvcvideo] Error 2
*
* ERROR: media-video/linux-uvc-0.1.0_pre250 failed.
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 48: Called src_compile
* environment, line 3203: Called linux-mod_src_compile
* environment, line 2462: Called die
* The specific snippet of code:
* eval "emake HOSTCC="$(tc-getBUILD_CC)" CROSS_COMPILE=${CHOST}- LDFLAGS="$(get_abi_LDFLAGS)" ${BUILD_FIXES} ${BUILD_PARAMS} ${BUILD_TARGETS} " || die "Unable to emake HOSTCC="$(tc-getBUILD_CC)" CROSS_COMPILE=${CHOST}- LDFLAGS="$(get_abi_LDFLAGS)" ${BUILD_FIXES} ${BUILD_PARAMS} ${BUILD_TARGETS}";
* The die message:
* Unable to emake HOSTCC=i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc CROSS_COMPILE=i686-pc-linux-gnu- LDFLAGS= KERNEL_DIR=/usr/src/linux
*
* If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.
* A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/media-video/linux-uvc-0.1.0_pre250/temp/build.log'.
* The ebuild environment file is located at '/var/tmp/portage/media-video/linux-uvc-0.1.0_pre250/temp/environment'.

here is the /var/tmp/portage/media-video/linux-uvc-0.1.0_pre250/temp/build.log:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double check that you have this :
Code: |
-> Device Drivers
│ -> Multimedia devices
│ -> Video capture adapters
│ -> V4L USB devices
│ -> USB Video Class (UVC)
|
Also, you may need these packages :
Code: |
media-video/guvcview
media-video/linux-uvc
media-video/luvcview
|
|

I have those setting built in as a kernel.
Code: |
Device Drivers -> Multimedia devices -> [*] Enable Video for Linux API 1
Device Drivers -> Multimedia devices -> [*] Video capture adapters -> [*] V4L USB Devices
OmniVision Camera Chip support
|
guview and luvcview are masked by ~X86 keyword. linux-uvc is the package that is giving me problems. |

all of my previous settings needed to be configured as modules, not built into the kernel. Everthing works now. Thanks for your help. |
