hi there,
i have a centrino notebook. when im using the battery, i want slow down the processor as much as possible.
but, i have /proc/cpufreq, /proc/acpi/.../throttling and /proc/acpi/.../performance.
in every device i can define the speed how fast / slow the cpu should run, but what is the difference between them?! which one should i use? can different entrys conflict with each other? why are there three devices and what for?
i really dont know which one to adjust or what the difference is between them.
thanks and greets,

Have a look at here about an ebuild Ive made that will do exactly that for you using speedfreq.
This one is made for 2.6, if you still run 2.4 maybe the cpufreq ebuild can do something for you? _________________ Christian

I already use autospeedstep, cpufreqd and a script that changes frequency and brightness when i unplug the ac adaptor. Im more interessted in the differences between those devices, cause im able to adjuste everyone of them, but really dont know whats the difference for example if i set performance to 750mhz or throttling to 50% (i have a pentium m 1,5ghz).
but big thanks for your help and greets,
