Hello. I havent seen anyone mention this, but does the SMP kernel in Gentoo support more than 2 processors? I have several Quad Xeon mahinces that i would like to install Gentoo on. Any help would be appreciated!

i would assume so... easy to tell. Bootup the live cd with the smp option and see how many it detects :) |

Don't forget to use the "-j" option in your /etc/make.conf to take advantage of the multiple processors. Rule of them is "-j<# of processors + 1>" so in your case it would be "-j5". |

where does one put this in the make.conf ?

Kernel on gentoo is the same gnu/linux kernel you can download from kernel.org, and it suports up to 8 I think, sorry just awake up;)
