I have two virtual machines running on vmware server 2 that have constant time issues, drifting ahead or back. I have ntp enabled but the times never sync. The output of ntpq shows inaccurate offset and jitter times, even though the time is correct at the moment:
Code: | ntpq -np
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
==============================================================================
192.168.0.1 72.167.54.201 3 u 59 64 17 3.605 -896.36 629.407
192.168.0.6 216.14.97.75 2 u 56 64 17 0.107 -911.21 634.827 |
I suspect it has something to do with vmware. How do I get these machines to sync correctly?

VMWare tools support host-guest time synchronisation. _________________ Hello 911? How are you? |

VMware tools installed and time synchronization is enabled. |

Then don't run ntp. Just run the host/guest time sync daemon. If you have both running, they may be "fighting" each other. |
