|
|
I recently tried to enable kernel modesetting on my intel video card.
I discovered that when modesetting in enabled the boot messages usually displayed by openrc are vanished and all I have is a black screen.
Why the framebuffer device get disabled? Is there any method to have both modesetting and a framebuffer device to display boot messages? _________________ Any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.

KMS now provides the framebuffer. So enable mode setting in your kernel and disable ALL fb drivers. Then it should work fine (also fbsplash). |

I only had vesafb enabled. I'll try to disable it and see if it works. _________________ Any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.

vesafb is an fb driver - you can't use and fb driver and KMS at once as KMS provides fb on it's own (I guess I repeated myself just in case). |
