|
|
Does anyone have any idea how to get video thumbnailing to work in nautilus? I have had installations that have thumbnailed all but like 1 in 10. Now it only thumbnails 1 in ten. Any ideas what I'm missing? Just so you know, I have Thumbnail size in nautilus cranked up to 1GB. I also have Totem installed. Neither one works. Last time I had thumbnailing working, I didnt even have totem installed. Is this a feature that has been taken out of the latest Nautilus? Thanks for your help. |

Open gconf-editor and go to /desktop/gnome/thumbnailers.
Check to make sure "disable_all" is unchecked, and "enabled" is checked for each item.
Then check to see what thumbnailer you're using for what file type, usually either gst-thumbnailer or totem-video-thumbnailer.
Test out the thumbnailer in prompt to make sure it doesn't error and renders properly. If it fails, remerge.
If the thumbnailer is enabled, doesn't crash, renders a test OK, and you still don't get thumbnails, you can either use "touch filename" or "rm -rf ~/.thumbnails/fail"
If that doesn't work, you're out of luck. _________________ Real men use every GAIM protocol. |

i noticed totem doesnt thumbnail my videos when i compile it with the gstreamer flag. So if you did so too, do
Code: |
USE="-gstreamer" emerge totem
