Since I was having so many problems with the Stage 3 install and the GRP install, I decided to go with a Stage 1 install. Problem: portage is out of date and, at the end of emerge sync, says it is _highly_ recommended that I update it. Why is this a problem? emerge portage fails. It throws an error (unforutnately I'm dual booting and can't type it now) and doesn't complete the update. What to do, what to do... should I continue the isntall without updating portage at risk of not having an up to date or working system, or if not what should I do? emerge portage has failed several times now with the same error message...

Thanks! Next question - I'm dual booting (well planning to) from a windows partitioned drive. I've got a 10GB partition as the first one, then a 32MB, 1024MB, and ~29GB partition. The last three are linux (boot, swap, root). The linux partitions are therefor respectively partitions 5, 6 and 7. When I install my bootloader, how should I set it up so I can still boot Windows as well as Linux? I'll probably use GRUB but LILO is fine with me if it's better for this.

Oh, one last thing - I've just got a ATI TV WONDER VE and was wondering what options I should enable in the kernel when I compile it. Thanks!
