|
|
So I just picked up a new Radeon X1300 to replace the nVidia card that died. I've never played with ATI before. I got the card up and running. By default, it was using XAA and performance was horrid. I switched it to EXA and the card started preforming about as well as my old nVidia card. I've touched UXA on a Dell GX260 with Intel graphics just enough to see it doesn't work. Is UXA available for ATI cards, or is it just an Intel thing?
I tried setting AccelMethod to UXA. However, it just falls back to XAA. Tried to Google for it, but could only find blogs saying it works without telling how. The Radeon man page doesn't list it. I have:
Code: |
x11-base/xorg-server-1.5.3-r6
x11-libs/libdrm-2.4.11
x11-proto/xf86driproto-2.0.4
x11-proto/dri2proto-2.0
x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.1-r1
|
Anything I should unmask or emerge to get UXA? Or should I just be happy with EXA?
Thanks,
Chris |

Yeah, UXA is intel specific, at least for the moment.
How exactly is performance poor, and what nvidia card are you comparing it to (ie what was your old card)?
The X1300 is hardly a "new" card, and it was never a high-end card either... _________________ "You have to invite me in" |

The nVidia card was a GeForce FX5700. The Radeon X1300 works fine. I just noticed a big improvement moving from XAA to EXA. I was wondering if I could get more by moving to UXA.
One of these days I'm going to pick up a new motherboard for my desktop. Then I'll be able to use one of those fancy new PCI Express cards. I can't argue with the price of the Radeon X1300. I picked up two of them for $100 US total. |
