|

Hi, I recently found out that if i unplug a USB device then plug it back in it doesn't work. It disappears from /dev and it even loses power. This happens with all my usb devices (keyboard, mouse, hub, mp3 player),
The strange thing is that if I have the system running and i plug something in for the first time the device gets detected just fine. It's only when i replug it that it stops working. This is mainly a problem with my mp3 player since i have to be very sure that i'm done with it or else i have to restart the computer if i want to mess with it again
lsmod tells me the following modules are loaded when everything is plugged in:
vfat
fat
usb-storage
sg
sd_mod
scsi_mod
nvidia
mousedev
keybdev
hid
input
usb-uhci

Ok, this seemed to be a problem with hotplugging... now that i have it disabled most everything works fine _except_ for the mp3 player.
It's a usb mass storage device but if i remove it and plug it back in i have to reload the sd_mod module ("modprobe -r sd_mod; modprobe sd_mod"). This is fairly annoying and i feel like throwing the computer out the window right now. _________________ Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum viditur. |
