Hello, ok i am running virtualbox 2.2.4 and since upgrading to kernel 2.6.29-gentoo-r5 Vbox will not load VMs, it shows the laoding progress bar which never get past 0%.

I have to kill vbox to end this and after that vbox will not start at all?

Yes i have rebuilt the kernel module so that should not be as issue!

any ideas?

cheers

Are you able to create a new virtual machine? I'm not sure it's the same issue, but I did experience something similar in the past when I upgraded either VirtualBox or the kernel; the existing virtual machine didn't load properly, but creating a new one was OK. If I remember correctly, it was more problematic when the virtual machine was in the "saved" state or had a snapshot.

I ended up creating the virtual machines from scratch (they was due for a reinstall anyway), and now I always shut down the virtual machines and delete the snapshots whenever I upgrade VirtualBox or the kernel. You might also want to try creating a new virtual machine using the existing virtual machine's disk image.
