The same happens to me in Gnome. I have:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 130M (rev a1)
and
nvidia-drivers-180.60 drivers.

Maybe inside the Kde Configuration Center, there is an option inside the monitor section to lock the brightness.

I've got the same problem on my laptop with a Gforce 9600M GT. The problem for me however is neither KDE nor Gnome, but the Nvidia X driver.
In a non-X console I can change the backlight brightness by echoing values to the appropriate /sys/class file, just like lokuarachi. Using the nv drivers, instead of the official Nvidia drivers fixes the problem too (which is not a long term solution since these have no 3D acceleration :( ).
Other users seem to have the same problem. I filled a bug report to Nvidia, but never got an answer.
The same bug might apply for you lokuarachi, since some macbooks have Nvidia graphic chips.
