First of all im using a geko 201 gps with the cable plugged into the serial port (only one) of a thinkpad 560e. it looks like devfs hass created /dev/tts/0, but when i run gpsd and give it commands it returns 0.000000 for everything, which i think means that its not working. does anyone out there know anything about gps to help me. a walkthrough from the begginning would be nice, as i dont know very much about gps. thanks in advance. _________________ -Captain Entropy |

What Im experiencing is a very long lag time before the GPS get a differential lock
What does this mean? I leave the GPS on for about 10 minutes plugged in to the serial port, and after 10+ minutes it automagically works when viewing it with GPSD. The command I use is gpds D 5, for on-screen debugging. I think there is a bug in GPSD that causes this. Once it works though, GPSDrive works great with it!
