Now ive been using gentoo for a year now and ive NEVER had this problem. I had my gentoo install which was slowly becomming b0rked by the day due to my own behalf. I decided that id install again and just install what I needed. I have 2 drives, originally hdb was which held my gentoo, with hda storing files. I installed a new gentoo install on hda, but used grub this time as the bootloader. Well after I did this, i wanted to get back into my old gentoo install, so I chroot'ed and ran lilo. THIS is where things became messy for me. After this..LILO began saying "map file and boot sector are on different disks" or something along those lines. Now it doesnt matter if i have one drive connected, or both, same message. That drive is set up like so
hda1 /boot
hda2 /
hda3 swap
I just want my gentoo back...im stuck with WIN XP..windows hasnt graced this machine since last october...plz someone has to know what I can do. |
