Hi,
I'm using Firefox 3.5 and I can't view Java applets. This problem existed in Firefox 3.0 too.
Here's some info:

| Then that should be everything you need. Make sure it's enabled in firefox (Preferences->Content->Enable Java) and you don't have any add-ons that are blocking applets. |

if folder plugins doesn't exists inside firefox create it and rerun command
change your path
you can use
to check where files are installed
works for me on ~x86 and ~x86_64, firefox 3 and 3.5, don't remember if i had to do it on 2.x , usualy the newest java development kit (dev-java/sun-jdk) ~arch
for now i got, lately i add custom-optimization, rest i used from begining, as far as i know and i think i know pretty well my system
