Backing up system !

I reacently did etc-update and after that ended up with fu.. system...
I totaly forgot all about backup and ended up reinstalling ( dumb I know )

But now I would like to backup /etc or maybe whole / ( /home is on a separate partition ). What are my options ? I need something that can do full backup on a week-week basis. How can I do it ? What software ?

Read some stuff on forum but 99% is kinda blur and foggy for me

I use Bacula and it works well for me. I backup my Windows computer and one of my Linux computers using Bacula. There is also an ebuild for it. The latest version is 1.31a (that I know of). There is a Gentoo (and Bacula) user that posted it on the Bacula mailing list. If you go there and ask for it I am sure you will get the latest from someone. Takes some configuration but it has been working well for me. :-)
