Do yourself a favor and remove qt splits from /var/lib/portage/world
(as a part of keeping the world clean).
In the meanwhile 'USE="qt3support" emerge -1pv qt-gui qt-dbus'

Explicitly specifying USE flags on an emerge line is bad form. Add the USE flag to /etc/make.conf like you're supposed to.

And let the packages you actually want to emerge (e.g. whatever KDE 4 stuff) decide what qt ebuilds get pulled in.

It does sound like your world file could do with a bit of pruning.

is a permanent solution.
That was there only to see which packages will need that useflag,
so they can be added explicitly to those packages.
