I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and an AT7-Max2 motherboard with a Via KT400 chipset. I cannot get DRI enabled for the life of me.

I've followed the ATI setup guide, and the guides and FAQs on the forums, but I still can't seem to get it to work, no matter how hard I've tried.

And, not to sound cocky because I know you're all trying to help, but I recognize my error message from the forums, yet I've followed those instructions and still can't get it working. At one point, when I had compiled agpgart as a module, it wouldn't modprobe or insmod. I don't have the error message on hand, and have since recompiled the kernel with agp support builtin, and I can't find the error in dmesg.
