This applet (on my machine) reports
The place 'Ottawa' is not valid. The data source is not able to find this place
When I search for Ottawa using Environment Canada as the data source. (In fact Env Canada fails as a data source for ALL locations.)
However BBC weather and NOAA;s national weather service do still work as data sources.
Env Canada USED to work with this applet until a few weeks ago AND still does with the different weather applet used on my wife's kde-3.5.10 debian.
Any suggeestions.

Same here.
The Environment Canada data source used to work for Mont Saint-Hilaire then abruptly stopped working a few weeks ago. I googled around some but haven't found any solutions yet. |

It works for Environment Canada in KDE-4.3, but I had to nuke my ~/.kde folder first. In fact it's a forcast widget. Real nice. |

Thanks for your reply.
My experience is the same as yours. I have just upgraded to kde-4.3 and the applet works again.
I shall mark this as "solved." |

hey guys,
did any of you use the 'kweather' application from the kde 3.5 days?
it was simular to the lcd weather widget but was less intrusive as it could be configured to be transparent on the panel.
portage has a kweather-4.3.0, i have installed it but i cant seem to find the application....it doesnt appear as a widget. _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards |

Hi Art Vandalay
in KDE-4.3.0 there are 2 weather plasmoids in the Add widgets dialog. One is the LCD one and my favorite is the Weather Forecast one (near the bottom).
Cheers. |

Nice article. Both are working here now. I reckon that makes me a satisfied customer. |

thanks mike, found it.
i've set it up but with this version unfortunately it seems to only show an image(ie sun/cloud etc) and no numerical display next to it (like the kde-3.5 version did).
to get the current conditions you need to hover the mouse over it, which is dissapointing. think ill use the lcd version until a new version comes out.
tbh, i kinda expected the general overall quality of the widgets in kde 4 to be a bit more functional and configurable than they are atm.
for example, does anyone actually use or find the the network/hard/cpu monitor widgets useful?
maybe i'm expecting too much _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards |

Ok, you have the Weather Forecast plasmoid in your panel - right? So when you click on it don't you get a popup with the weekly forecast?
This morning mine stopped working (like before see top of thread). I figure some config was breaking it because after I nuked my ~/.kde4 folder and started a fresh session, it worked again.
If yours isn't working perfectly, you could backup your ~/.kde4 folder and then nuke it. |
