No new nvidia driver in portage

The nvidia driver has not been updated in a long time,
The newer nvidia driver has a long list of bug fixes.
Is it because of lack of manpower?
Or is it something else?

Well while viewing the changelog for the latest driver,
I saw a few bugfixes that may solve a problem i am having with compiz and kde4.

Also in the bugzilla i saw that some people reported having problems with .29 and .30 kernels with the current driver in the tree.
