I have Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" in my mouse setup.....the rest of the usb mouse works fine....

Any ideas?

On the box it said it was designed for Win XP or better, so why won't it work with Linux?

Did you do this as well?

Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"

Yea, i did.

That is why I am stumped.....i dont know what I could have missed.

It can;'t be too major, as the mouse stil works.

Sorry I don't have any magic solutions but here's some more food for thought:

1. Have you tried using this same mouse on a different computer?

2. How about on the same computer but different OS?

This is just to rule out the possibility of a mechanical problem on the hardware.

I do not know if it is necessary, but do you have the following in your XF86Config?:

Code:
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
