I just picked up a PCI radeon HD 2400 Pro video card in order to get Xv working with radeonhd while I wait for my onboard amd 760G to be supported. Installed the card by I get no DRI support. Lines of interest in Xorg.0.log:
Code: |
(WW) RADEONHD(0): rhdAtomAllocateFbScratch: FW FB scratch area 536854528 (size: 16384) extends beyond available framebuffer size 268435456
(II) RADEONHD(0): Cannot get VRAM scratch space. Allocating in main memory instead.
...
(WW) RADEONHD(0): Direct rendering for R600 an (sic) up forced on - This is NOT officially supported at the hardware level and may cause instability or lockups
(II) RADEONHD(0): Found libdri 5.4.0
... (repeated drmOpenDevice calls, all of which fail)
(EE) RADEONHD(0): RHDDRIVersionCheck: drmOpen("radeon", "pci:0000:04:00.0") failed.
(WW) RADEONHD(0): RHDDRIPreInit: Version check failed. Disabling DRI.
...

It does detect and start up in 1920x1080 (I have a dvi-to-hdmi adapter on the DVI connecter and it connects to my tv). I realize it is PCI - and high res - but runs significantly slower then the onboard graphics. And of course without DRI I can't use -vo xv with mplayer - so I (still) get postage-sized video in the middle of the screen when mplayer is fullscreen. |
