Timidity++ alsa interface issue

Hello,
I'm having some issues between timidity and alsa. I am trying to get Timidity's ALSA sequencer interface to work, but I never get any output. I am able to to play midi files just fine if I run timidity through any of the other interfaces except the ALSA seq. interface. I have tried multiple midi players too (kmid, aplaymidi). When I play midi file via alsa seq interface, I see timidity load the patches needed for the song but no output. Anybody have any ideas of this issue or a better way to diagnose it? There was talk of this issue before but they just came up with a work-around. Did you run timidity from its boot script? Which messages when runing timidity into the console?
