The APM (Power Management) works fine using the live cd, (turning off the monitor when inactive).
However, when I complie the APM options into the kernel, after inactivity, it will blank out the screen (command line) but won't be completely black and so will not turn off the monitor, and also it will not return to normal after I tap the keyboard, I am unable to find a way to refresh the screen.
When I do not enable any of the APM options in the kernel then the screen will do one of two things:
1) blank out as it should, but it is still not completely black and does not turn off the monitor.
2) freeze on whatever text while the computer continues.
But I am able to resume/refresh the screen by tapping the keyboard.
Does anyone know why this occurs or how to fix it. It happens with both the gentoo-sources kernel and the gaming-sources kernel over multiple install attempts |
