|
|
Hi, maybe its an stupid question but I am not able to make my quickcam E3500 work.
I enable in the kernel the gspca driver and the zc3xx driver for gspca, I compiled the driver as driver not as module (system amd64 with kernel 2.6.30-r4)
Now, I have video, is perfect, but alsa doesn't recognized the new sound device so I can enable the microphone to record my voice.
I don't know what to do _________________ E8200 - 4GB - P5E-VM - 8800GTS & Dell SP2309W - 750GB Seagate SATA2 7200.11 -Antec P180Mini & Enermax Modu82+ 525W - Gentoo

Usually the best way for sound cards and webcams is to build the drivers as modules, not inside the kernel. |

I've also tried that without luck, still don't have sound from my webcam. _________________ E8200 - 4GB - P5E-VM - 8800GTS & Dell SP2309W - 750GB Seagate SATA2 7200.11 -Antec P180Mini & Enermax Modu82+ 525W - Gentoo

Try to compile them as modules and tell us the output of lsmod -l. |

I checked that also before and I think I had something wrong because the module, gspca_zc3xx shows 0 devices using it, it should be one right?

Yes it should be one but be sure that a program is using the webcam before you check with lsmod. If the webcam is idle then it will show 0.
Hmmm I had a similar problem with my Trust webcam. The module was loaded during boot but it couldn't find the device and the solution was just to unload and reload it again. So a guy from this forum made a script for me that did that thing and I put it to be loaded automatically during boot. |

Its weird, even using the video of the webcam with skype, it still shows 0!
I also installed libv4l... I don't know if it has something to do with it.
But anyway, alsaconf still doesn't detect the webcam so I can use the mic _________________ E8200 - 4GB - P5E-VM - 8800GTS & Dell SP2309W - 750GB Seagate SATA2 7200.11 -Antec P180Mini & Enermax Modu82+ 525W - Gentoo

Weird, you said with gspca driver the video is perfect. But everywhere I checked they use your camer with the uvc driver. Maybe you should try it as well?
Also, I don't think so that alsaconf has to do with the webcam. Mine works perfectly but alsaconf doesn't detect it. |

For the microphone, you probably have to enable the USB audio driver (Sound card support->ALSA->USB sound devices->USB Audio/MIDI driver). |
