I think the thread title says it all.

So what info should I post to troubleshoot? I started Power Management from System -> Preferences, and after the Suspend and Hibernate options were available from the Shut Down menu, they don't work. I had these features working under KDE 4.2.4 - same machine, nothing else has changed except for emerging Gnome. Hibernate results in the screen being locked, but that's it.

You have two solution:

1. Emerge pm-utils
or
2. Add laptop use flag to hal (/etc/portage/package.use) and update your system (emerge -uDN world) this will auto install pm-utils.

P.S.
Excuse me if I have wrong some packages names but I'm not running gentoo in this time.
