Hi,

Here I've got a Gigabyte GA-7VAX motherboard with Realtek AL650 CODEC onboard sound. I'm really going crazy cause I don't get it working. First, I tried it with some kernel modules, and it worked, but then I unloades some of them to remove the useless ones. The problem is that I didn't write down which ones I unloaded. Now it doesn't work any more.

I recompiled the kernel with nearly all possible sound-modules one by one, but none of them worked.

Then I downloaded the Realtek-driver from Realtek itself, installed it like the readme told me, but it still won't work.

The last thing I did was to rm all the devices the a realtek script created. And I compiled a new kernel with support for nearly all cards (not as modules). Now I don't have the /dev/sound/mixer device, but I have audio, dspW, sequenzer and sequenzer2.

I hope anybody can help me.

Thanks in advance,
Tassilo

maybe you should use ALSA.

In my experience it's quite good with onboard soundcards.
