I cannot get compiz-fusion working, Im using the nvidia-drivers. Heres all the configs and output I can find. I have done a lot of research and trial and error but get nowhere. Need assistance.

xvinfo seems to say nothign of Xgl, its what compiz-manager uses in its start up script to check for Xgl.

From what I remember you don´t use xgl and aiglx but one or the other.
My belief for nvidia it will be aiglx at least on recent card.

one setting was not enabled by default in the compiz ebuild/ccm ebuild and this will give you this tipical result:
no border deco and can´t move windows.
I think you should check your config in the ccm.
look for something about windows manager (from what I recall) and you should enable it.
I am sure in the forum there is an old thread somewhere about this.

Yes they were enabled, I had found that post, but so far no luck. I have tried several things. ill reread post i saw and see if i missed something.

its using emerald, how would I change it to another manager to see if its an emerald issue?

Ive tried many things, changing the window manager, making sure the plugins were enabled and a number of different things like fusion-icon, use flags, tons of re-emerging packages, masking to lower versions. It appears from poking around the compiz forums the xgl message is ok and not the issue, compiz is starting and running and working from a starting up point of view. There is some disconnect in the plugins or something. I just cant figure out what makes the window decorations not appear thought I have it all enabled. Tried the post about missing and no borders without luck. Is there any logs or good doc on the under-the-hood tweaks?

I did 100 things over weekend but I managed to get it to work with following several suggestions

make sure 0.8.2 for both libcompiz and compiz (masking out both -r2 and r1), emerge start fusion icon. Making sure All the proper use flags on all the packages are there.

Once fusion icon starts, start changing and setting back the settings, once I went back into config settings windows decorations, move and resize were finally responding. for 2 days I had those plugins set.

There has to have been some disconnect between plugin settings on the default install that fusion icon fixes.
