|
|
I have performed dozens of Gentoo isntallations, and never seen this problem before. On boot, the computer hangs while mounting proc. It originally hung while mounting /dev, but I recompiled the kernel. Computer is an old Sony laptop, and I have had Gentoo working on it before. If I hit CTRL-C during the hang, I get a message:
/sbin/rc: line 236: [: Integer expression Expected
Any ideas what's causing this?
Thanks! |

Does /proc mount when using a boot CD?

Yes- I can boot from a liveCD. I used the most recent build as of yesterday. I tried chrooting into the OS and running dmesg, but just got a bunch of USB failures, that looked just like the list I got when I ran the same command from the LiveCD host OS. |

I don't know if it's your problem but you have to enable these in your kernel (under filesystems) Code: |
Enable POSIX file locking API [*]
Dnotify support [*]
|
If this not solved your problem try to use a ".config" from livecd (I think it have to be in /proc/config.gz). _________________ Linux ape 2.6.31-vanilla. Paludis since 0.28.0. |

When I did the setup, I hastily set the very basic kernel options needed to boot- I always do an in-depth one at a later time. I went back and compiled the thing again, and now it boots. Thanks for the help everyone! |

Maybe you can add [Solved] to the first post's subject. _________________ Linux ape 2.6.31-vanilla. Paludis since 0.28.0. |
