Hello,

I've recently installed Gentoo Linux on my box. I have had problems with the kernel configuration because i didn't know the chipset of my network interface. I talked with a forum member and notified me that was a Yukon2 compatible device. Then, I recompiled the kernel and configured the network with this:
Code:
config_eth0=( "192.168.1.84/24 brd 192.168.1.255" )
config_eth0=( "192.168.1.84 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255" )
routes_eth0=( "default via 192.168.1.1" )

In my resolv.conf I wrote:
Code:
nameserver 80.58.0.33

(The DNS of my ISP, Telefonia Spain)

Then I restarted the service and booted the eth0 but when I tried to ping, it can't resolve. Then I tried to emerge something but I got a message that wget can't resolve the domain names. I rebooted the box and the problem persists.

I've to say that when I installed with the LiveCD I got network but configured with dhcpcd and when I booted first the box with the extracted files it didn't work.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for my school English.

Regards,
Isern[/code]

Do you still have

Code:
nameserver 80.58.0.33

AFTER you reboot into your new environment?

Try the following in /etc/conf.d/net (verbatim)

Code:

dns_servers_eth0="4.2.2.2"
config_eth0=( "192.168.1.84 netmask 255.255.255.0 brd 192.168.1.255" )
routes_eth0=( "default via 192.168.1.1" )

Put nothing else in your /etc/conf.d/net

Reboot, and see if you can access the net

Hello,

I tried. I deleted the content of resolv.conf and added the line in the net configuration.

I rebooted the service and it added to resolv.conf the nameserver 4.2.2.2 but it still not working.

When I boot up the service I get no error.

Thank you!

Regards,
Isern

Hello,

The problem was that I've to network interfaces in my ASUS P6T Motherboard and when I booted with the LiveCD it detected the network in use. When I booted in the HDD to finish the installation it hasn't detected.

I've changed the cable to the other device and now its working!

Thanks,
Isern
