Its not really a big deal but still somewhat annoying, /etc/conf.d/hostname is still HOSTNAME="localhost" and I've not changed anything else so why has it started doing this?

man dhcpcd.conf says this:

then dhcpcd sets the hostname to the one supplied by the DHCP server.


maybe you should try a real hostname (I like LotR elves myself :) )

OK thanks for pointing that out, have a real hostname now although I was happy with localhost :lol: god knows why it changed after changing ISPs
