Hi,
Anyone knows how one can configure a PPP connection with gentoo?? I'm moving out of the cable modem service and I'm downgrading to a modest 56Kbps connection.
Regards. |

First of all... do you have a win modem?
Second question: are you wanting to use a program like kppp or wvdial? |

My modem is a Creative Blaster External Modem. So, I think is not a Winmodem. I've heard about kppp, but not about wvdial. Wich is the easyest to use / configure ?
Also I'm using Gnome only. Can I still use kppp? |

Three simple steps
1. Emerge ppp
2. run the script pppd (or something like that)
rc-update add pppd
To be sure about the name (pppd or something else) check in /etc/init.d
also run /etc/init.d/pppd start
3. Run kppp, Is very easy to configure and use. Make sure that your modem is connected and is turned on
Good luck |
