|
|
After booting minimal install CD, I set up network using net-setup eth0. Then partitioning, mounting. Then I want to use links, but I cant connect to www.gentoo.org.
I tryed pinging, doesnt work. I looked in /etc/resolv.conf and there was as nameserver, 192.168.1.2, but should be 192.168.1.1. I changed it, saved, but pinging doesnt work.(I can ping main router, but no internet site - DNS problem. But after setting using net-setup pinging sites worked. I also restarted pc, everything from start, but doesnt help. Can anybodoy help?

Are your /etc/conf.d/net and /etc/hosts files correctly configured?
Do you have net.eth0 started? |

Hi,
What will happen when you boot from LiveCD and immediately try to ping?
Also is this the only machine you have? Is it a dual-boot?
It sounds like firewall/router security issue...
Thank you. |

ping works using net-setup. After mount, it works. When I cd to /mnt/gentoo it stops to work and change nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf to 192.168.1.2.
There is no firewall, or router problem. No dualboot. After inserting media and net-setup ping works, but when I cd to /mnt/gentoo it stops. I can ping all time by ip, so it is dns problem. |

no, i meant 4.2.2.6, a public nameserver
just as a BTW should effect nothing except the result of using non absolute pathnames. Is it correct to assume that entering the chroot is what is causing the behavior change? |
