Dear Gentoo users,
I want to save pdf within Firefox. So I have checked the Edit->Preferences->Content->File types->pdf->Change action->Save them on my computer. And it works.
But when I click on Open in the Dowloads window, it starts cinepaint! I have checked the Mozilla documents. They say:
Quote:
Open them with the default application: Select this optionpreference to open this file type in the default application for that file type (determined by the operating system).

And the default application is indeed Cinepaint!
How can I change this setting which is related to the operating system?

What I want to do:
- default is to save the pdf (it is OK right now).
- when I click on open in the downloads window, it starts acroread.

Any idea?
leTigreBleu (Lionel)

Edit: Firefox 3.0.5 does work and uses acrobat reader when I click on open.

As this problem is back (this time, Firefox opens the pdf with The Gimp), here is the solution I have found reading many posts on the net:
1. Locate your mimeinfo.cache file. On my Gentoo, it is /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
2. As root, open it with a text editor, and find the application/pdf line.
3. Add the software as the first (leftmost) one, for instance:
Code:
application/pdf=AdobeReader.desktop;gimp.desktop;

Hope this helps!
