I had this problem recently (last couple of weeks when I upgraded to gnome 2.26 from 2.24). I *think* the issue was libnss3.so.12, and required a revdep-rebuild --library libnss3.so.12. I decided I still prefer gkrellm (and upgraded to 3.1.1 see b.g.o).

i tried running that command and got this list of builds:

Code:

emerge --oneshot dev-libs/nss:0 gnome-base/gnome-control-center:2 gnome-extra/evolution-data-server:0 net-im/pidgin:0 net-libs/xulrunner:1.9

afterwards, the hardware monitor applet still does not work.

This has been a common problem lately. Try re-emerging gnome-panels.

Here's where I found the info about solving the problem (worked for me)

http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-user/msg_6b0a6cd6ddcc81cb25894e95e004bf7b.xml

and it points out the relevant bug

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285062

(I think I also had to run lafilefixer --justfixit)

alright, today I upgraded to gnome-2.26, and now I'm getting the same crash dialog again.

I ran the command

Code:
revdep-rebuild --library libnss3.so.12

and it gnome-panels was one of the packages reinstalled. the hardware monitor applet is still broken. has anyone found a solution yet?
