"net-wireless/iw is a new nl80211 based CLI configuration utility for wireless devices."

But the current openrc-0.4.3-r3 net.lo script doesn't seem to have the appropriate /lib/rc/net module to work with it, so I can't automagically use /etc/init.d/net.wlan0, for example, to start my wifi. (I hacked in the appropriate iw command in my /etc/conf.d/net's preup() as a temporary solution.)

Am I missing something, or is net-wireless/iw support in the pipeline?

I've not heard of that before.
I have no plans to put that into OpenRC for 2 reasons.

1) wpa_supplicant should handle it
2) I'm phasing out support for the net.lo style of networking.

Saying that, patches are always welcome :)
